Vaticon Transmission 9/22/2009

So, the only draw back to our current living situation is that I don't ever want to leave the house. I walk to the library every morning to get new books and movies, and then spend most of my day consuming them. This leaves me with a lot to share and a small group of people to share it with.

So here are some things that I have been liking lately:

Books

Lynch on Lynch- David Lynch

I'm a Lebowski, You're a Lebowski: The Big Lebowski and What Have You- Green, Peskoe, Shuffitt, Russell

I, Fellini- Fredrico Fellini

Film

The Elephant Man

Death to Smoochy

Killing of a Chinese Bookie

The Right Stuff

Music

Heartbeater EP (For download and purchase here)

Radiohead- These Are My Twisted Words

Burial/ Four Tet- Wolf Cub & Moth

Penderecki- St. Luke's Passion

On a related note, Penderecki is scheduled to conduct our very own Nashville Symphony on January 21, 22, and 23, 2010. The reportoire is to be two of his pieces, Adagietto from Paradise Lost for English Horn and String Orchestra and Concerto for Piano “Resurrection”, as well as a selection from Shostakovich.

Krzysztof Penderecki is one of the more serious influences on the way I see music and try to make it. I would encourage everyone to try to make it out to see him in the flesh, and to hear his music played by professionals under his direction. Tickets begin at $35 and can be purchased here.
